Muir Heritage Land Trust, Martinez
Over 300 people came and helped build 2+ miles of trail at Sky Ranch, the weekend of June 2 & 3. Wow, what an accomplishment! At this National Trail Days event we carved a 2-mile signature trail loop to honor Tina Batt. Perched high upon the Franklin Ridge, with world class views of the Carquinez Strait and Mt. Diablo, Sky Ranch is one of the Muir Heritage Land Trust's premier properties. We had fun, survived the wind, worked hard and created this new spur of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Special thanks to... project partners Muir Heritage Land Trust, our outstanding volunteer crew leaders, the folks and financial support from REI Concord and REI Mountain View, Technu and Clif Bar. We'd also like to thank participants from: Washington Mutual Bank, Tesoro, Conoco Phillips, Shell, Boy Scout Troop 370, East Bay Conservation Corp, and the Environmental Studies Academy. Thank you to Spinning Wheel for the great music Saturday night and to Kelly Sandlin for her efforts as the Project Support Coordinator. We can't help but also mention huge thanks to super hero Don Snaman! All of you helped make this National Trails Day event project a great success! We will post more photos, stories and recipes soon.
